Welcome to my new little Pokemon blog. I recently got back into Pokemon and am pretty much obsessed now. Like any other 90's kids, Pokemon was a big part of my childhood. I wasn't old enough to understand how to play the game or the value of it back then but I knew it was super popular and remembered going to the biggest Japanese super market where I lived and the little Pokemon stand was crazy popular.
I finally re-watched the Pokemon anime a year ago, and yes all 500+ episode. So many T_T. I know there are way more now but I don't remember what episode I wanted a year ago. I never played the TCG game when I was a kid but I suddenly was obsessed with the Pokemon cards since they were selling them at the dollar store 5 for $1. We pretty much spend $150 each me and my boyfriend. NUTS!
Conveniently Pokemon World championships was at Vancouver this year! WOW. It is the first time that it was being held outside of USA. I love Vancouver for the first time for doing something cool! WHOOO. Of course I didn't want to miss the moment so I went with my boyfriend and his friend.
The opening ceremony was at 9:00 am (Aug. 10, 2013) and they said there would be a big announcement for the X and Y 3DS game coming out on October 12. We didn't make it since we got there at 9:30 am. Oh well. But we did see something crazy called A RIDICULOUSLY LONG LINE UP!. WHAT ON EARTH! We thought we had to line up to get up but it was really for the retail store which was tiny by the way and they didn't have much selection either. Thank god I wear long pants and a thin jacket because the line up went from the inside of the convention center to the other convention center. We waited in line for 1 hour and 45 minutes. What on earth Pokemon ... you need to fix this! But we choose the right time to line up since not too long after they sold out of the play mats and folders and so on and so forth.
Line up in Starbucks in a tiny room too? POO!
While my boyfriend was waiting in line, I thought I would buy us a drink and saw this cute little thing on their chalkboard. So festive :D.
A view of the inside with the traditional giant floating PIKACHUUUUUU~
By the time we got there, they already sold out on the Worlds pouch, something else that I can't see and the package deal for $108 which I would have gotten! Oh well, at least there was the other stuff I want.
A view of how far we have gotten! Almost there!
Plushies~ You can only buy these officials at either the Pokemon center vending machine in Seattle, Nintendo world in New York of the 9 different Pokemon centers in Japan. I want to go to JAPAN!
The worlds Pikachu (which I wanted one by the way, whoever bought all of the pikachu....I HATE YOU!) were the first to sell out and by the time I got there, there was nothing left :(. The second to sell out were the black and white kyurem The second day I went back, only the small plushies and keldo were left so thank god I got the kyurem for myself :D.
Bigger plushies were $15 and the smaller ones were $10. Not too shabby.
Oh wow I actually forgot to take a picture of the store. It was too chaotic to remember :(. Sorrrryyy.
There was a room to watch the pokemon anime. Too cool :D.
Bean bag cars to play the video game.
Haha team rocket!
I finally got a chance to see the trophies in person. They are so pretty :). I mean come on! Its a pikachu holding a trophy on a trophy. How epic is that! I want one but I don't know if I would ever be good enough to be world class :(.
The venue is ridiculously huge. On the left side of the room is the competitors competing in the TCG and the video game competitions to have the privilege to be in the semi finals.
The right side of the room is for people to just chill and play their DS and side events too. There is also the stage which wasn't really used after the opening ceremony.
Shhh...don't bother the players. But it was quite funny when someone did a cool move, everyone would be like AHHHHHHHHH WHOOOOOOOOO *Clap clap clap*. XD
Hey oshawott . How you don't?
Pikachu came out and there were people that were lining up to take pictures but he just...walked away and then little kids just ran up to take pictures. I feel a little bit discriminated. Just because I'm not tiny and short doesn't mean I'M NOT A KID! I never end up having the chance to take a picture with the :(.
Friends forever :).
Pikaaaaa~~
Other things for spectators to do was the side events. I didn't know about this until I got there. If I did, I would have brought my own deck and dice. It was so embarrassing to get my ass whipped eight times in one day. :(. So word of advice when you go to nationals or worlds, bring your stuff! Especially when you play in the 8 player small card tournaments and you are the top 4, you are guaranteed booster packs. 4th place= 1 pack, 3rd place= 2 packs, 2nd place = 3 packs and 1st place= 5 packs.
You were allowed to do this card two times. Every time you finish the card, you would get three booster packs, three random cards from the plasma freeze and you got to choose either one of Pokemon hat (black one with the POP! logo or a red Victini hat), POP! card sleeves, play mat, folders, etc.) By the time I got there, you were only allowed to get one. The second day was ridiculous and made me kinda regret putting in my second card on the first day since you pretty much got X 2 the freebies. :((((((((((
Of course this center was my most favorite since I loved to draw when I was a kid and dreamed of being an animation artist but I grew up and became a cook instead LOL. Not that far away from the artistic realm.
These aren't my best work for sure but in my defense I was fighting for tiny table space and little kids trying to shove me off my seat :(.
It got to be on the hall of fame! YEY XD. Good enough to be on the wall :).

I didn't take much pictures after that since I was just in line up after line up to play the card game and earn stamps to get freebies. Overall I had lots of fun but make sure you go eat something. I was lining up all day and didn't have anything to eat and felt like I was going to faint. Thank god my boyfriend went and got me a junior chicken at Mcdonalds :). Life saver!
