I know I know. It's been about two weeks since Plasma Blast has come out. I get it. I'm late LOL. Better late then never? Anyways here is one out of the two theme decks that always come out when a new set is released. This collection contains solar strike featuring Volcarona and Mind Wipe featuring a non-EX Genesect. Out of the two, this Solar strike is the one people are running to right now and I can see why. As for the price, these go for $15 in big retailers such as Wal-Mart or Toys R Us but comic book store prices vary and usually is actually cheaper too!
For those who live in my area in Vancouver, here are the prices I have seen:
Sakura Media $12.99
Metropolis Comics and Toys $11.99
Connection Games $10 for Mind Wipe and $18 for Solar Strike (why such a big difference...)
Core games in Richmond does not carry it as of this moment.
I actually really like this theme deck's packaging. It is sparkly! Oohhh. I always love Pokemon's packaging since it is eye catching and the art work is right on point.
What it looks like when you slide it right out of the packaging.
Everything laid out. Just like other theme decks, this theme deck comes with:
-60 card deck
-cardboard damage counters and condition markers
-paper playmat
-a sheet explaining how to read cards, explaining what is EX's and Ace specs
-Promo card in a crystal shard version
-online code for a whole deck
-coin with genesect's head on it
The circle holo looks quite nice! Mind Wipe theme deck has a metallic deep purple.
The back of the paper playmat. It is pretty much a 101 for any beginners. Quite useful, even for players that have been playing for a while. I always forget which side to rotate your card when you are confused, asleep or paralyzed so the playmat is useful. But I don't like to use it since it isn't fully flat and my cards don't slide nicely so they are just collecting dust in my little Pokemon shrine in my computer room closet.
The look of the newest playmat featuring Volcarona and Genesect.
Close up of the promo card.
This set contains:
-12 water energies
-6 fire energies
-3 Larvesta
-1 Volcarona + Promo
-3 Squirtle
-2 Wartortle
-1 Blastoise (One of the reasons why this set is more popular then Mind Wipe)
-2 Remoraid
-2 Octillery
-3 Snorunt
-2 Glalie
-1 Froslass
-1 Suicune
-2 Lapras
-2 Ducklett
-2 Teddiursa
-2 Ursaring
-2 Energy Retrieval
-2 Energy search
-2 Reversal Trigger
-1 Pokemon Catcher (the card that everyone loves right now since it has the ability to switch your opponent's active Pokemon to one of it's benched Pokemon)
-1 ultra ball
-2 Professor Juniper
-2 Cheren
Both cards that all player's are loving since Professor Juniper allows you to discard your hand and draw 7 cards while Cheren allows you to draw 3 cards without any cost.
Overall this theme deck is pretty decent and the trainers is awesome! No regrets :) and a pretty good buy if I do say so myself. Out of 10, I'd give this theme deck a 8/10.
